 First, define your company culture

·            To what is your company committed?

·         How has your company developed the values you stand for?

·         In the frame of sustainability, you need to be long term oriented

·         You may want to add commitments to ethical and other principles

·         What characteristics do you expect your people to have?

·         Continuous improvement of the quality of people, processes, products and services

Then put in place the Management and Leadership principles

Expectations from Managers:

  • Do what you preach
  • Install the right communication channels and check their functioning
  • Keep contact with the places where work is done
  • Show interest in what people are doing
  • Give a second, but not a third chance

Expectations from staff:

  • Select the right people, train them correctly
  • Define a clear hierarchy. This is even more important when people work cross-functionally in a matrix structure.
  • Encourage people to participate in the improvement of products, processes and work methods
  • Reward according to performance
  • Award innovation, improvements
  • Watch carefully the leadership abilities of the first level supervisors
